A New Pavilion at St. John the Evangelist in Warrenton, VA
Dedicated in Honor of Deacon Bernie Ragan
On Christmas morning 2009, the parishioners of St. John the Evangelist Church in Warrenton, Va. received the news that their beloved Deacon, brother Knight, and close friend, Rev. Mr. W. Bernard Ragan, Jr. had passed away. On Sunday, September 26, 2010 a pavilion was dedicated and blessed in his honor by Fr. James R. Gould, Pastor.
Deacon Ragan was a devoted husband to his wife Peggy for 45 years, a father of two sons, Patrick and Chris, and a stepdaughter, Sue Ann. He served in the U.S. Air Force and worked as an Engineer for IBM. Deacon Ragan served St. John’s for over 25 years (that includes three bishops and four pastors). In his lifetime he baptized more than 1,000 babies and married over 100 couples. He established a program in the Dominican Republic that provided goats to the impoverished residents of Banica who raised the animals for milk and sale. Deacon Ragan was also a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus.
